Heartspeak has developed a research- based premarital counseling program to prepare engaged couples and/or couples who are considering marriage to discuss and explore the realities of marriage. The goal is to better prepare couples with the tools that help to create healthy and happy marriages, and to help set realistic expectations.

The Heartspeak approach to marriage counseling is to first help couples learn about themselves, then to use this knowledge and insight to establish and strengthen their marriage relationship and all relationships in their lives.

What Research Says:

“Couples who attend premarital courses tend to communicate better, solve problems and report better relationships than those who do not.”

– Journal of Family Relations, April 2003 –

“Past research has indicated that 2 periods can be considered the most critical for the survival of marriages: (a) the first 7 years of marriage, during which half of all divorces are known to occur, and (b) the period during which the first child reaches 14 years of age.”

– Journal of Marriage and Family, August 2000 –

When marriage gets difficult, sometimes a simple intervention can help a couple through a difficult stage in their relationship. We encourage couples to seek help for maintenance of their relationship, and not to wait until the relationship is in disrepair. Similar to individual struggles, couples often struggle silently through marital conflict unnecessarily. Heartspeak could help couples get back on track to a happy, healthy marriage. ··
